Tweet! Tweet!

I love birds. I even loved them before they became hip. Birds and I go waaaaay back. I started doing a walk around the house and realized that they're pretty prevalent in my design scheme too.

So, I wanted to share the bird love. In the form of this vintage bluebirds and redbirds trivet:

Tweet! Sweet!

If you'd like to feather your nest with this cute trivet, the drawing will be this coming Friday, June the 10th at noon Central time. All that you have to do to enter is leave a comment with your favorite bird.. and why it's your favorite. Easy, huh? And if you don't like birds, you can say so. Though, if that's the case, owning this trivet might make you feel yucky inside!

The winner will be chosen by a drawing of names and is open to everyone everywhere. Note: if you leave a comment and it's going to show as anonymous, please leave an email address where I can reach you if you're the winner. Otherwise, I'll have to draw again and go with the next pretty bird whose name comes up.

Thanks and please pass the word like a good parrot would!

Until next time (coo! coo! caw! caw!)
x's and o's,
Eartha

I am really into bird watching right now. It started when a nest was built on our porch and we saw a bird family grow up!

Right now I am into doves - we have two in the backyard that come and go! Sweet birds - I call 'em love doves!

Oh! I LOVE doves! They are so sweet and beautiful and make the prettiest sounds (when they decide to make a sound). Definitely on my list of favorite birds.

I love chickadees the best! They're tiny and sweet and they'll eat out of your hand :-)

Good choice! I like those too. They have sweet little chirps too. And they will? I'll have to try that!

Red red robin comes bob bob bobbin' along...

Eartha Kitsch said...

Along! There'll be no more sobbin' when he starts throbbin' his old sweet song!

See your owls there? Cute!

And Miss RM: See your sweet little red winged birds?

Hi Eartha!

Eartha Kitsch said...

Whee! Hi hon! Hey, what's your favorite bird?

Ravens. Definitely ravens. Because they're beautiful and smart and like shiny things. And they look a bit dangerous. And mysterious. And dang cool.

Then again, I love scarlet tanagers. And mourning doves. And canaries. And blue tits. And hummingbirds (though most times I call them hummingpigs). And the mockingbird that learned how to meow like my cat. And the teeny little ones that hop in and out of the juniper by my patio, because they're just so darn adorable. And... yes, I like birds. :)

Love,
BooRadBop

hmmmm...oh, there are so many! Bluebirds, owls, flamingos!!! ha ha!!!

Eartha Kitsch said...

Club80: Ha! There you go! There are just too many to choose!

Boo: Ravens are bad-ass. And the rest too! Love your list. You might just love birds as much as I do!

I'm a huge bird feeder/watcher,but without a doubt I am the House Sparrow King! There was a flock of them that lived in our bushes all through the winter while the rest of the birds had flown south. I kept them in suet and birdseed all winter. The bird feeder is right outside my bedroom window,so I could sit and the computer and watch them all day

I like to think that all the sparrow houses have a lil pic of me in it,like all English people have a pic of Queen Elizabeth in theirs

Eartha Kitsch said...

Ha! I love that! And tiny little commemorative plates with your face on them.

I love woodpeckers..and owls!!
They were both plentiful in our yard in Pewee Valley KY. Loved watching them!! Oh but I also love blue finch or bright yellow finch.. I love vintage birds...that sit on shelves too...
Hugs,
Debbie (The Dolly Mama)..not ever sure how to pic a profile..don't really know what to choose..(*_*)

I've always loved cardinals. At our old place they were the only birds that would eat from our bird feeder. Since we've moved to our new place, we now have another cardinal couple that eats from our feeder. And as of this spring they're now starting to bring their babies with them! It makes me so happy. :)

ooh picking a favorite bird is hard! I think my fave around here, since we moved south are scissortails, they are so graceful and great, swooping bug catchers!

My favorite birds are swallows, zinging around me when I read outside :)

I love birds (that's what the binoculars on my kitchen window are for, honest - not spying on the neighbours). We just had a bluetit nest in our bathroom extractor fan and I got ridiculously excited! Don't know if I have a favourite, but I do like goldfinches quite a lot. That trivet is fab x

Cardinals are very special to me as they were a favorite of my late father. Whenever I see one I think of him and it makes me feel like he is watching over me. Now give me the tray. heeheee.

Can I choose a retro bird? I love flamingos! I saw some at the zoo and they are just as cool as their plastic lawn ornament counterparts. I really like your blue cement block wall with all those little wall hanging birdies too!

Sara In AZ said...

Love that sweet little trivet girl! I have to agree with Amber, Flamingos are my fave bird too!

Hummingbirds are my favorite. They look so graceful when flying around.

Flamingos are my favorite they are so lovely and pink and even if you don't live near any you can get plastic ones for your lawn at a reasonable price. Also, a flamingo will never turn you down for a shrimp cocktail. If both of these facts are not enough for you then consider this: Flamingos are sooo cool that their knees are on backwards AND they can sleep on one leg! Their awesomeness is unparalleled!

Very nice collection! I too am also a fan of flamingos. When I was 19 my boyfriend at the time, and I were at the zoo I made sure that he took a picture of me with them because I loved them so much...he thought I was nuts!

Oh. Toughie!
I love barn swallows for nostalgic reasons since they built nest around the farm house where I grew up.
Chickadees are so sweet and cute and curious.
But I think my favorite is the Great Blue Heron. I love how they are always near the water. They are so majestic and mysterious. It's always a treat when I get to see one take off flying so gracefully.
