Bang Bang

This week has been really hectic and has had some really happy parts and then some really sad parts. Today, I'm in self preservation mode. I've got chocolate covered peanut brittle and Grey Gardens (okay, and I'll admit it - there is pizza too) and I'm getting ready to go into the zone and forget the world for a while. It's rainy outside and if anyone needs me, they can just talk to my staff. Okay, I totally don't have staff but wouldn't it be cool?

On a supremely unrelated note, I don't feel like Nancy Sinatra gets enough love. She's the Queen of Cool. Let's take a moment to admire her, shall we?

Hope that y'all are having a good week!

Until next time,
x's and o's,
Eartha

Amen -- the music Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood made together in the 1960s still rocks and holds up remarkably well. (I prefer their version of "Jackson" to Johnny Cash and June Carter's, which I know is probably a sacriledge to some people!). I've been lucky enough to see Nancy perform in London twice when she put out a "comeback" CD in 2004. She's been a bit too enthusiastic with plastic surgery procedures, but her voice is stronger than ever. I hope you're finding solace in your peanut brittle and pizza. x

Sorry to hear you're having a rough week. I hope things settle down for you soon! Nancy Sinatra is fabulous. I've always loved her version of "Bang Bang"--so sad and somehow sinister at the same time. Don't know if you're an aficionado of Elvis movies or not, but I've always adored this number from Speedway: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh1HacSZgZI

The queen of cool...ain't it the truth. Between the sky high wigs and the thigh high mini skirts... that girl is SWAGGER! Oh, and she can sing, too. :) Hope things are looking up for you next week, you sound like you're coping about like I would with the frazzles (bring on the Grey Gardens and tasty treats!).

Nancy Sinatra = Extremely Underappreciated. "Sugartown" is one of my happy songs. Feel better!

I am in love with Nancy Sinatra, especially when it comes to her vocals on 'Bang Bang.' Ya know, when I'm feeling down I just put on 'These Boots Were Made For Walking' and dance around my bedroom like an ass. If that doesn't cheer you up, maybe the fact that I'm admitting to partaking in such activities will!

Chocolate covered peanut brittle?! That just sounds dirty. It's nice to see others appreciating Nancy, my favorite is Summer Wine ... my Mother always played it on her guitar when we were kids & still does when I whine at her.

yes i love nancy too, especially the song "don't let him waste your time." something about the line "then some skinny bitch walks by in some hot pants and he's running out the door really speaks to me."

i had along week too. i'm trying to remedy it by laying on the couch reading blogs, eating cheese dip, and watching mad men.

Sending good thoughts on a rainy Friday. Nancy S, I guess it was hard to shine when standing in such a big shadow.

Aww, poor you! Only just catching up, so I guess it's a bit late to hope you're feeling better, but I expect the pizza and chocolate helped.

As for Nancy, I LOVE her! The album from her TV Special 'Movin with Nancy' is one of my all time faves, as I've listened to it for the last thirty five years or more. Thanks for that video - I love the wild graphic effect they use. Perfect!

So happy to see so many others love her too. Off to look for more on youtube...

nancy's one of my fave pre-freakbeat artists. so good! (grey gardens fixes everything. if i'm having a bad day, just seeing the marble faun fixes it immediately)
