Still Kickin'

Hey y'all! We're still up to our elbows, repairing the flood damage at the ranch. The good news is that the insurance will kick in after our deductible.  Whew!

The poopy pants hardwood crew are scheduled to come in a couple of weeks. Yes, we're having those guys back. Sometimes, it's better to know what kind of insanity lurks behind a corner than to face a brand new one.

In unrelated news, I won't have internet access for a couple of weeks. In the meantime, here is a photo of Little Mister Kitten (name still pending) helping the Mister paint the hall.

We need a couple hundred of those fantastic hall painting kittens! He's pretty good!

Y'all take good care! And please take the time around the upcoming Boom! Boom! Pow! of a holiday to remind your neighbors, relatives, friends and utter and complete strangers to put their pets safely up during fireworks season. So many pets become scared and lost due to their fear of them and sadly, a whole lot of those never make it home. And if your neighborhood is anything like mine, people shoot them off for days. And sometimes even in broad daylight. Defying explanation.

Yes, I know that I'm a bummer. And that living with me is like living inside of a public service announcement. I'm a mama hen. I worry so that you don't have to.

Until next time!
x's and o's,
Eartha

We might just rent him out. He's great at edging! And yeah...I know. Never in my life have I been too busy to name a sweet little kitten. Sigh.

I've heard of house cats but never house painter cats! Adorable pic - hang in there and best wishes the repairs go smoothly.

Clearly that kitten needs a name befitting an artiste! Van Gogh... or Rembrandt.

I forgot to tell you that those little Kitty Filters are also excellent painters!

So glad your insurance will cover things! I've heard such horror stories related to insurance companies covering water damage. Good for you!

Mister Kitten seems to be doing a fine job! Hubby would like to know if we can hire him to help with the guestroom. ;)

Have a wonderful Independence Day!

Well, welcome to the bummer club! I hate the 4th of July--so many great things we could celebrate about America other than bombs, which is what fireworks symbolize. AND they traumatize pets and kids get hurt by them every year. It's a miracle that I escaped from my childhood unscathed by the misadventures of my dad and his drunken friends setting off bottle rockets!

See? I just made you look like a ton of fun. You're welcome! ;)

The tents are already up and full of fireworks here in southern Mississippi. You know you're somewhere with a bunch of dumb rednecks when the fireworks people have to put up NO SMOKING signs all over the place. We don't usually have outside workers in our house since I have one of those "can do anything" husbands but I'm not surprised to hear about Mr. Poopy Pants. When we got a new roof after Hurricane Katrina removed a chunk of the old one, the roofers would just pee off the roof (which was kind of ok since I wasn't going to let them use my bathroom)! Not that my husband probably wouldn't do the same thing, but ewwww all the same. Hope your house dries out soon!

I am so sorry you're having to go through yucky flood damage. I've never had anything like that happen but I can just imagine the nightmare.
Oh - all the little animals are so scared on the 4th! I don't beleive I have ever seen one *like* a fireworks display.

I think little mister kitten is the best possible name for that FREAKING ADORABLE little baby. My heartstrings! He's willing to put in a little sweat equity! :)

I remember last year on my street the amateur fireworks started July 2nd and kept going at intervals until the 4th, then it was like that scene in Apocalypse Now for a full 12 hour night. Lord help us! I hope all the pets keep safe and appreciate the PSA.

I think Mr. Kitten is a fine name... says the gal that has a Mr. Kitten of her own. My guy was away overseas for a couple of months when I got our little mister. I didn't want to name him until my fellow came home (he was a surprise). Mr. Kitten was his placeholder name for the summer- when fellow came home we could never nail the right name down and 12 years later, he's still Mr. Kitten! The best part is other people have to use his silly "formal" name, too- friends having to talk about your cat using his honorific title; his vet having to announce Mr. Kitten's appointment to room full of people (so much more dignified than yelling "Brownie!"); Registration reminders coming formally addressed to "Mr. Kitten Lastname". We love us some Mr. Kitten and name is still a constant source to amusement for us.
