Fantastic Florals

I'm just chomping at the bit to show you the beautiful floral patterns seen in an estate sale house this weekend. I try to pretend like I don't have a girly side but I go completely goony for old floral wallpaper. These photos were taken in an amazing ranch house that was full of pastel goodness. It was built in 1958 and is a one owner home. You know those are my favorite kind!

Enjoy a stroll through the flower garden with me, won't you?

Check out the beautiful drapes. All of the rooms had matching custom draperies.

And the matching pastel woodwork.

You can see the original pink grasscloth wallpaper in the hallway in the background.

It's tough to choose, but I think that this one is my favorite.  Again, look at the matching trim.

The Living Room. Isn't that dental molding pretty? You can see the Dining Room in the back.

The Dining Room. I love that china cabinet. The first morning of the sale had some absolutely amazing furniture, lamps and decor items. I think? that this Dining Room set was still available.

The Kitchen. Love!!

Here you can see the soft grey cabinets that match the moldings.

Floral sofa in the basement. Check out the doll society and the original VCT tiles.

Isn't it a lovely home? It's so easy to tell that it was designed with great attention to detail and to how colors play off of each other. I'd move there in a heartbeat. It was such a happy home. If you want to see more photos of the home and some of the items for sale there go here:   Jocelyn Hollow Sale. Keep an eye out for the beautiful soft pink and lavender grey bedroom suite. It's SO beautiful and in perfect shape and low, low priced today. If I had another bedroom, I'd be ALL over that.

And if you're in the Nashville area, it's open today until 3:00 and there is also another sale by the same company one street over. I'd highly recommend taking a look. There are lots of fun items left (all at half price today) and the house itself is worth the trip! I took the Mister there today and we got this chartreuse recliner chair at the half off price of $27.00.  Sweet! (Shout out to Lisa's Dad for helping us get it down those steep steps! It was perfect timing with them coming in the front door - and he guaranteed that there would be no broken bones for me this weekend. Woohoo! )

I'll be back tomorrow with photos of what I got at the sales this weekend. And no, I haven't started unpacking the kitchen yet. Just knowing that I have a kitchen is enough for me right now. It's too Fall-ish and beautiful out and there is too much fun to be had for now. I hope that y'all are having a great weekend!

Until next time,
x's and o's,
Eartha

AWESOME!!! Why aren't people these days more willing to use pattern and color in their homes? My favorite is the magnolia paper with the pink molding...I want a house!!!

I know! I got some old magazines there and all the way up the road, I was looking at them and screeching to the Mister who was driving, "WHY don't people use pattern and color....and give a damn anymore? Why the beige? WHY THE BEIGE?"

What happened to us as a society?

I think there's a picture of me with a birthday cake and that same magnolia paper in the background...at my grandmother Mimi's house.

My favorite is the Asian looking one you like best and that great grasscloth. And I love, love, love your new chair. It's awesome.

That wallpaper is SO amazingly beautiful, I adore all of it. That is my dream (besides finding a house with a pink bathroom!) is finding a house with some original wallpaper left. I know it's a long shot, but if so much was left in this house maybe I can find that here too. *fingers crossed*

And that recliner.....GORGEOUS and what a steal at $27!!! AWESOME!!!

Sweet score on that lovely vintage chair! That house was amazing to look at! Those wallpaper patterns were lovely...sort of reminds me of my grandmother's house. Its such a shame that folks don't embrace patterns like they used to.

I'd have to say the kitchen wall paper is my favorite. I have that same grass cloth wall paper in my house!

LOVE these! I had to paint over what little was left of the original wall paper in my master bedroom. Too sad, but there was no saving it.

I resolve the "girly" issue by having one of my bedrooms be completely girly. My childhood bedroom. The rest are "atomic" streamline style for the most part. Which I love too.

But...

My fav room in the house? That girly bedroom of mine! Didn't think I'd love it as much, but I do!

That kitchen wallpaper,LOVE. When I see that style,I always think "Bavarian". Have no clue if that's literal but I think of that when i see this kinda German cuckoo clock people in it

Wow. Each room was more awesome than the last. Nice chair! As far as the beige society...I think that we've become a society of movers. It's just expected that we'll move several times in our lifetime. No use investing in making our homes personal. It feels like the days of "laying down roots" are behind us :-(

This is amazing--thanks for sharing! That chair, for $27? That's even more amazing. And I think you and hourglass susie may have coined a term: Beige Society.

When I see rooms that are all-bland, they do nothing for me. But, we do have neutral colors on our walls. For me, that's so I can have more fun with color on the other stuff, and so I can switch that stuff out and around easily. Think the beige thing is probably a combination of our society being more transient and also being more disposable. Some people swap their stuff out seasonally; my grandmas sure never did that. Now you've got me thinking...one of the reasons I love reading your blog.

I'm totally in love with that house! And I'm hyperventilating over the kitchen wallpaper. I'd have that in my house most happily.

Each photo of wallpaper was even better than the one previous--and then I saw the kitchen wallpaper! I would move into that house in a heartbeat, too, Eartha. Gorgeous. And excellent score on the chair!

I love the chair! I don't even remember it from the first day because of the complete haze of shopping frenzy I was in with you gals. Such fun! PS I also now want to cover my entire house in paper. In spite of my "never again" when we had to strip the kitchen of a weird, sofa-pattern print from the early 90's and it took something like six hours. It might be worth it! :)

Eartha, when we move to Nashville someday, I am SO putting you on early house-hunting duty for us.
