Nesting

Pip and I want to show you an easy treat that we made today!

Chocolate Birds' Nests!

If you want to make some, here's what you'll need:

Just kidding! Here's what you'll need:

Crunchy chinese noodles + Milk chocolate morsels + Candy robin's eggs (or jelly beans)

Here's what you do:

1. Melt a bag of milk chocolate morsels in the microwave and stir.

2. Add 5 ounces of noodles and stir until covered well.

3. To make a nest, spoon out a large heaping spoonful of the mixture onto a waxed paper covered tray or pan, making sure to leave a well in the middle for the eggs. They pretty much look like nests on their own. Repeat until nests are complete.

4. Put eggs in the nests.

5. Leave on waxed paper and refrigerate to firm up. Ready in minutes!

Make sure that they're not refrigerator cold when you serve as they'll be very hard and you'll actually believe that you are eating twigs. Room temperature and not melting is perfect. I wanted to use large eggs so I made six big nests. If you make smaller ones that might hold jelly beans or smaller eggs, you can probably get eight nests out of the recipe. Super easy and no-fail. They probably took ten minutes tops. And cute! You can also put little Peeps chicks in your nests instead of eggs.

Oh Easter Eve! The wait is torture!

Happy Making

Here are some things that are making me happy today.

A new little bird for the wall bird collection. Aren't her eyebrows something?

A photo shoot interrupted by Pip. I can never get mad at her because she's so flippin' cute.

My bracelet by Eli. Isn't he a cutie? Becky over at Strumpet's Crumpets is letting him make them and sell them and he's just crocheting away, let me tell you! He only charges $2.50 per bracelet and that includes shipping. I even got to choose my favorite color. He's seven years old and I just love the idea of him crafting and making his own money. If you'd like to support his endeavor, go here. I'm pretty sure that they're the must-have accessory for Spring!

He even addresses the envelopes. Gah! So cute!

Thanks to Robbie for cluing me in to Eli and his bracelets.

Finally, I want to share this smile inducing video that I first saw thanks to the amazing ladies over at Modern Kiddo. It's hard to believe that I actually lived through the eighties without laughing myself into stitches. I guess hindsight truly is 20/20. Just watching this thing leaves me out of breath and gives me ghost wedgies.

After you're done watching, try out some fitness faces in the mirror. If you need more inspiration, check out Alan Thicke singing "Sweaty and Hot".

That's a lot of innuendo that Robin is putting down, no?

If you've never been over to Modern Kiddo, trust me...bookmark them now. They come up with some of THE coolest things that I've ever seen. You'll thank yourself.

Until next time,

Pam and the Pug in the Snow

It's been a while since I've posted any of the Pam films for you. Yesterday, I was talking to Rae who has two of the cutest pugs on the planet. I realized that I have Pam film with a pug pup in it and wanted to share.

Here are Pam and the Pug in the Snow straight out of 1963.

We don't get many fluffy, tree coating snows here so it was probably a real treat for Pam and her family. Does anyone but me remember hanging out clothes on snowy days? You'd bring them in and they were frozen stiff like boards! Popsicle pants! Good times.

Background music is by the incomparable Vince Guaraldi.

For the rest of the Pam films cataloged so far, click here.

I'd also like to take the time to give a shout-out to my brother who is having a birthday today. Yep, he was born on April Fool's Day and as you can imagine he's gotten some ribbing about it through the years! He's also moving into a sweet 1970's house today with his lovely wife and kids.

I hope that he takes time out for cake.

Or at least candles.

Hope that you all are having a great Sunday!
