On top of that, I'm still getting my shizzle together after a late March Christmas with my family. Thus, today's post is about holiday corsages. Hey, you know I could be dead by glitter inhalation by Christmas so I'd better post now! When I was home with my Mom, she was showing me different things that she had been squirreling away throughout the year - things that she'd found at thrift stores and thought I might like. Yeah, totally. She's my ace in the hole when it comes to cool stuff. Anyway, the car had reached full capacity and I promised the Mister that I wouldn't consider any other items. Of course, then my Mom says, "Come here. I want you to look at something." She opened a drawer and lo and behold my breath was taken away and before I knew it, we were both sitting in the floor in front of the drawer taking in the wonder. Of tons and tons of holiday corsages. Sixteen in all. Wait. Did you hear that? Angels singing.
I already had a small collection of corsages but they are getting way hard to find at estate sales. And if you find one in an antique store there is a good chance that it's going to be above budget. She then told me that I could take what I wanted. Whaaaaaaaaat? Um, yeah. I heard the Mister make a comment in the hall about how I should remember that we had no. more. room. I squeaked out something resembling, "But come seeeeeeeeee!" There was no way that I was going to turn down the opportunity to own the holiday corsage mother-load. I'm not sure how I'm going to display them - they will definitely have to be where the kitties can't get to them and where I can pluck one out to wear when the mood strikes. They're just so beautiful. Justin Timberlake can bring sexy back but as for me? I'm bringing corsages back. Thanks Mom!
Come back next time to see another seasonally inappropriate instant collection gifted to me by Mom.
Hint: Gobble Gobble!

Ah, shucks, I don't see any that would be right for Easter, so I guess you will have to wait til next holiday season. Or maybe not!

They are in the background of the March 23rd post and you are right they are hard to find, I usually find them squished up!!! WOW I love yours and can not wait to see the Gobble items!!!(Monica)
amazing! my mom would me more likely to say "oh i used to have tons of thsoe, made by your great grandmother. but we threw them away!" which she DID tell me when i showed her my crochet poodle pottle cover collection! ah!
I had no idea there WAS such a thing as a Christmas corsage, but now I can totally see why you wanted every single one of them. They are amazing!!
Luv those old corsages, what a great collection!
Wow. I have never seen any before. They are amazing! Especially the pink one ;)
This just continues my sadness that our easter corsage making party never happened. Oh, what could have been...
Wow! Killer collection! Well done, Eartha's mom!!
I'm in love with old corsages, but have only ever had one that I wear every year. Then, a couple of years ago, while cleaning out my grandmother's house for the estate sale, I found a ton of vintage corsage 'makins', from sugar bells to sugared leaves to baubles to bows to pinecones. I keep meaning to get to work and make some to sell, but just haven't gotten around to it. Maybe this Christmas!
I would love to be more enthusiastic about your corsages but all this talk of Christa is bringing me down.
Ooooh...I do love a corsage! And these are so pretty. You aren't kidding that they are hard to find at sales these days; I almost never see 'em and I am always looking!
I had completely forgotten about holiday corsages. I bet my grandmothers had a million of them, because they always wore them on their coat lapels in December. Those little frosted bells!!! They bring back so many memories.
Oh dear God. Oh dear God. I feel faint! I know you're thinking: but Bryan, you're so manly, why would YOU care about corsages? Cos they make great 'scatters",that's why! Spread around all hither and tither amongst the Xmas decor, tacked on the wall amongst vintage card display, etc. Which is exactly what I did with the big box of them I found in our old family Xmas stuff 2 years ago! That classic plastic chiffon netting stuff, the painful fake holly, check!
GAWD these are so rad, love them
I love them, they are swoon worthy.
They are so beautiful! I don't know if my perspective is altered by the amount of goofy stuff I like, but I think they are not just kitschy cool, I think they are beautiful!!! I have never seen one out here which leads me to believe that either Californians don't believe in Christmas or they were confiscated and melted down for their street market, plastic value.
My Christmas corsages decorate my tree. They are so pretty mixed with the Shiny Brites. I have 42 of them, but the first is still my favorite-pink glass balls with glitter, shiny holly, and a wee tuft of silky, white, fur.
Um, I am SO jealous right now. They are all breathtaking - every last stinkin one.
Be still my heart! I've been trying to find one of these beauties for awhile! But now I have six plus months to find one!
We found a wonderful turquoise one for Karen Finlay's boozy wedding shower and it was so much fun! Wish you could have joined us for the festivities!
