Happy Birthday Liberace!

Oh, Liberace.... I wish that he were still here with us. I got my love of him early on. My grandmother used to love him and when he'd come on the TV, she'd just clap her hands and smile at him. I mean, who could resist doing so? He was a showman like no other and okay, my Grandmother and I both found him quite handsome! I don't think that there has been nor ever will be another like him. He would have been 92 years old today.

Here he is doing some razzle dazzle with Sammy Davis Jr.

And to add a little (or a heck of a lot) of opulence to your day:

Until next time (it don't mean a thing if it ain't got that bling)
x's and o's,
Eartha

I'm so glad I got to visit the Liberace Museum several years ago. All of that bling in one place was spectacular!

Oh wow..I'm so proud that you did! I kept thinking that I would get there but alas, too late.

Ah, the man who made a million women swoon...without ever knowing he wasn't on their side.

Ha! It's so true! He still makes me swoon even though I KNOW that he would have never been interested in me. He's got THAT kind of raw power. And sparkle.

How strange.....during the night, in the wee hours of the morning, I started thinking about all the people/things that our grandchildren, and even our children know nothing about. Liberace was the first person on my mental list!My dad loved records, and we had a LOT of Liberace recordings. Did you ever hear Cement Mixer, Putty, Putty? (Not kidding) Michele

Somewhere in your heart, you must have known that it was Liberace's birthday! And wow, you're right..how many children or even teenagers would have a clue? Did your list also include Tiny Tim? I bet he's another one.

I had to look up Cement Mixer, Putty, Putty. I found it! Awesome! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ob6Y6D9BuM4

He sure was! I'm a little worried about that movie that they're making about him - should be something to see.

I love it!

I keep a blog about Liberace here from Las Vegas!

http://liberacedeservesastamp.wordpress.com/

Please help put Liberace on a postage stamp so that we will never forget his fabulousness.

I also think it is quite fitting that out here in Las Vegas the Sahara hotel site of his most outrageous birthday party ever closed on that same date 44 years later.

I have video here:

I love it! Thank you for remembering Lee!

That second video is just classic! The Liberace Museum is one of my treasured memories of visiting Las Vegas. I'm so sad that it closed.
I also enjoyed Cement Mixer!

I'm really sad too! It sounded like such a wonderful place!

Eartha!

I am so disappointed in myself that I didn't see this post until just now, but I was in NW Arkansas in very close proximity to the Little Debbie Factory Store so I was a little bit distracted.

Thank you for wishing "Lee" a happy birthday!

I first discovered him when I was 10 years old and saw a television commercial for the "Liberace Deluxe Big Note Songbook".

My cousin had taken piano for years and I was jealous of her talent and thought that if I had this book, then I too could play like a professional.

Needless to say that growing up in the South, daddy shot down that idea and bought me a baseball glove instead.

However, today I am the proud owner of that songbook and it sits on top of my organ in the garage...

Aww! I love happy endings! :) I bet you're already playing better than your cousin. Wait, do you have air conditioning in that garage? I hope so!
