He sent me a link to a craigslist post about an estate sale with some fantastic deer in Ada, Oklahoma:
Just look at them all! NINE of them! Aren't they amazing lined up in a row like that?
And to make them even sweeter, they're only fifty bucks each! That's an amazing deal for large lawn deer and never have I seen this many on a lawn. With this being an estate sale, it's hard to know if the family is still living there but I would love to meet them. I bet they are/were awesome!
Sadly, this sale is over 700 miles from my house so I will only be there in spirit.
On a related note, did you know that Google Maps now gives you the distance if you were going to walk somewhere? As someone who dislikes car travel, this fascinates me! Turns out that I could walk to this sale in nine days and fifteen hours.. if I never stopped walking (Apparently, Google Maps has never been behind me on a walking track or flight of stairs!) I also learned that this path goes through the Ozark National Forest which sounds a little harrowing.
Even if I did decide to hoof it, the sale is in a week so I'd arrive at least three days late, only to collapse and die where the deer used to be - a fitting place of death for someone like me who does love lawn deer so!
Anyhoo, buckaroos (and doearoos!).. I hope that some of you are close enough to make one (or nine!) of these deer your own! If you do, send me a note so that I can write about your super score.

And if you're going to be staying home like me, take some time to wander over to illtakeyourphoto!'s website Box of Slides to see some truly amazing vintage slides.
Thanks again to illtakeyourphoto! for the fantastic tip!
Until next time,
x's and o's,
Eartha

Those deer really are impressive all parading together in a majestic herd!
Perhaps if you fueled up on sweet tea and grilled cheese sandwiches before your walking trip, you'd be able to make it out of Nashville? You could have your own team of tea and sandwich people driving along side of you to give you fuel whenever you needed it!
Har! Well, when you put it THAT way, it sounds like a posh vacation!
Those deer were so inspiring, I couldn't help myself!
OMG,I would have those set up for Xmas SO fast! The classic 8 reindeer plus Rudolph! I'm totally verklempt for you
Charm and Poise: I know! I woke up thinking about them this morning!
Cheshirecat666: Can you imagine? PERFECT for a Christmas display! I bet that's why they set them up this way. Those lucky folks!
According to your map you would walk right by BetaMike's parents place on your way to Ada. And you would walk past the Little Debbie Factory Store...
We have a book called "Weird Florida" out out by the same folks that published "Weird Kentucky". Of course, having lived in KY for years, plus going to high school and college there, I will bet there's a lot of weirdness not included in that book.
Maybe I should then! Surely, BetaMike's parents would take me in for a few minutes and let me soak my feet in a tub of water. Could be just what I need to make the trek! They seem nice too. Maybe I'd never leave!
Oh yes, there are many weird things going in Kentucky that aren't in that book. That's a great series of books, isn't it?
those look just like the set they have at santa land in cherokee north carolina. we got our lawn deer in cave city for just 15 bucks! a painted one! when we spotted it at the concrete wholesale place we freaked out. i'm trying to resist adding more because we have a tiny yard.
I have to admit those deer are pretty spectacular! Wow, 9 days straight of walking. Maybe Charm is right - if you had enough sweet tea and grilled cheese you might just make it. :)
700 miles! That's too sad! I love seeing you scrub your lawn deer! Ha!
