Thanks to everyone who posted encouraging words about our new kitty, Polly. And we loved reading your comments about your own experiences with your awesome senior kitties. They gave us a lot of happiness and hope. Unfortunately, our little Polliwog passed away on Saturday morning and it came as a huge shock. We're admittedly heartbroken. It's crazy how in love you can fall with a little creature in the course of less than a week. We miss her like she's been in our home for years. May she rest in peace and hopefully, she'll be in the big cat pile that the Mister and I get clobbered with when we cross over to the other side one day.
Hug your pets super tight for us today and give chin scritches to them all in Polliwog's memory. And if you see a stray that you can help, please do what you can. And maybe even beyond what you think that you can - because you'll find in the end, you'll be blessed just as much as they are. Polly will appreciate it from her heavenly perch (where we're convinced that sunbeams are plentiful and the laundry baskets are always full of fuzzy, warm towels). If you listen closely, you might even hear her purr in appreciation of your kindness.
Until next time,
x's and o's,
Eartha

What? Oh, I am so sorry!!
Oh no! I am so sorry. But I know that she was grateful to have a warm home and a full belly.
Oh, that's heartbreaking!! She looked like a real sweetie. I know it's cold comfort, but it's so nice to think she at least spent her last days surrounded by love and care. I bet she was grateful :)
That really sucks. I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm glad she had a lovely home to spend her last days in.
Sorry to hear this, Eartha. Hope you find your own equivalent of warm towels to curl up in today.
I'm so sorry to hear about Polly, that's a such shame. I echo everybody else's sentiment that at least she had a nice place and nice people to be with there at the end.
So sorry to hear this.It is hard to lose a pet because they love unconditionally. She'll meet you on the rainbow bridge.
Aww D: At least she had a great last week
I hope you take at least some comfort in the fact that you gave this wee bit of God's creation some safety, food, and home in her last days. You should. Not everyone is willing to take in strays and you did good by her.
So sorry to hear this, but I know you made a difference to her, and I know she won't forget. You did the best you could, and there's a lot to be said for that.
oh no :(
I'm sorry to hear this :(
I will give all my critters extra tight hugs tonight.

So sorry to hear about poor Polly. Though she crossed the Rainbow Bridge, she had a wonderful last week of life. Y'all probably showed her so much love and happiness in her final days than she ever had in her entire life and she knew that. I do believe that she will be up there waiting for you. It's amazing how one little animal can leave such a lasting impression in such a short amount of time. Just remember that she chose y'all for a reason and that she passed knowing love and y'all did good. *hugs*
So, so very sorry about Polly......my heart goes out to you.
:( I am so sorry that this has happened to Polly and to you guys.
Before I was born a little siamese found her way to my mum and dad and they kept her when no one claimed her. She was only with them a short while before she passed away as well. So mum and dad have always thought that she was looking for a safe place where she would be loved before passing.
I'm glad you guys could give that to Polly too, even though it hurts. *hug*
I am so sorry you lost sweet Polly. At least her last days were in relative comfort. Bless your dear hearts for taking her in and loving her, if only for a few days.
Aww Miss Eartha,
I'm so sorry to hear this :(
All of our little furry friends are either adopted, or strays pulled in from the cold... It takes merely seconds for me to fall head over heels for them. Every rescued animal seems to know that you saved them, they are always so appreciative... as I'm sure little Miss Polly was very appreciative of you and the Mister :)
Take care missy :)
Polly was very lucky to have met you :)

How sad, but you can take comfort that in her last days she was happy and loved. My condolences.
Thank you for giving her love in her final days. :) xoxo
Oh no. That was the most precious little love bug I've ever seen.
It's heart wrenching, isn't it? Those little souls that find us and move us to compassion and more love than we thought we had.
I say a little white prayer for Miss Polly.
You did good helping her.
You made her last days her best days. You can always take comfort in that. Been there, loved a kitty for a brief time only to lose them too soon.
Sorry to hear about little Polly, so sweet, bless your heart for taking her in. I took in a scraggly little old white kitty, she was wandering in our neighborhood, and it looked like no one loved her, so I took her to the vet and fixed her up best I could, I named her Dottie because the vet thought she was about 17 when I found her, she lived a few years on her little heating pad/bed in my home office. I still miss her sometimes. I gues we are magnets for needy critters!
RIP Polly. Hugs K.
Hi,This is the first time I write but wanted to share with you that I had a similar experience a while back. Out on the town one night I picked up a kitty that was quite mangled, one of her eyes was even out of its socket (who knows how that happened). My hubby and I just could not leave her on the street and we took her to our vet. We named her Lucy. They did all they could but Lucy died three days later...we were as heart broken as if she had been with us forever. Our only consolation was that she did not die alone on the streets. Martha.
Thank you for loving your Polliwog while you had her. I am sure that you will never know the world of difference that you made to her, even for that short time!
Back in September, a stray kitty wandered onto our acreage here in Ohio. Hubby isn't much of a cat person, and I had only ever had dogs as pets...but I couldn't just overlook this poor wee thing who was skin and bones!
Long story short: After an unsuccessful attempt to find her owner, Little Girl became mine. The nicest, sweetest cat who ever lived has a little black mustache and black angel wings on her back. I can't imagine being without her now. Oh, and her kittens are due any day ;) (Then it's off to spay!!)
Hugs from Little Girl and me xxx
i'm so sorry to hear this. i am happy thought that little pollywog got to spend her final days with some kindness and warmth and plenty of food. you have such a big heart for animals, which is one of my favorite attributes in a person. rest in peace little polly!
I'm so sorry to hear about Polly's passing. You made her last days good ones, and that means so very much.
I am so sorry. She was so lucky to have found you guys - who could ask for better caretakers in their "sunset" days.
Thank you for sharing your part of her story with us and reminding us these little buddies in need.
Thanks everyone for your super sweet words about our Polly - and for telling me your own stories about kitties that you've taken in and that your families have taken in. It gives me faith to know that there are more folks out there willing to extend warm arms to kitties who are in their final days. You all are great people.
