Then last weekend, after failed searches at a few more stores, the Mister and I were driving past the Habitat for Humanity store and I begged, "Let's just stop! They might have the table!" I'm sure he was thinking, "Fat chance, sister.." but we stopped.
And we walked in the front door. And there it was. The table that I'd pictured in my mind. To the letter. THE table. Mere feet across from me.
Which might not seem like such a big deal. But when you're on a tiny budget, these things seem like miracles. Will a shop have it? And if they do, will you be able to afford it? And wait...will it fit in the car? And they did. And I could. And it did. But just barely.
So now it sits in my office just waiting on some crafting to start. I'm presently too swamped for fun time but I can't wait. There used to be a single chair there in it's place where the Mister would come in and sit and talk to me while I worked. Now he sits at the table and calls it "the interview table". For a while, I had a solitary box of Kleenex there and I'd always tell him that he didn't get the job.
What about you? Have you visualized something lately and then had it realized? Do tell! Are you currently trying to find something and won't give up the search? Tell that too!
Until next time,
x's and o's,
Eartha

what a great table and lovely room!
That's so wonderful! I've been keeping an eye peeled for cute (and cheap) retro patio furniture for ages. *sigh*

Wow, congrats on the table! Looks great!
OMG! That is a really gorgeous table Eartha! Just perfect. I can picture you and the MR in there chatting away while you put together some amazing craft that may or may not involve glitter and googly eyes! AWESOME!!!
There is definitely something I have been trying to visualize and hoping against hope it will come true, I think you know what that is! I'm hoping aginst hope this is the year it will become reality!!!
It's gorgeous! I found my Herman Miller dining table at Habitat for $50! You have superb taste!!
So purty. The Retro Decorating Gods hath doth shined upon you, most humble servant. Yes: Hold out.
I really like that table, it reminds me of a table in a bakery or cafe in the 60's. I visualize stuff and find it too. I call it my mojo! Its so great when it pays off!
it is PERFECT! i need to try this visualization thing out!
that is such a great way to be. i need to be that way with everything i buy. only if i love it. The habitat store is pretty awesome. My husband found the ceramic sink i wanted there for just 30 bucks!
i LOVE the table. and i LOVE the print behind it!
i am on the search for a trunk. i'm not even sure what i really want. i want to put it under the window in our living room so i can store my blankets in it. I am also looking for a midcentury hutch so we can display travis' first aid collection. i saw one i kind of liked at pre to post modern but it wasn't perfect.
I'm so happy you found just the table you visualized! That's like a miracle. And the "you didn't get the job" bit is hilarious.
That's the table I grew up with -- just a different Formica top! Awwww...
This year I am visualizing a starburst clock for over the mantel. And a springtime visit with YOU! xoxoxo
What a SCORE! I've been touring the thrifts almost daily for a mid-century (or even a fake mid-century) sofa. No luck so far....
I love this post!! I wanted a 1950s dinette that badly and I found one at a yard sale, but couldn't afford it. My hubby called the following Monday to see if it was still available and, to my heartbreak, it was not.
It turns out that my best friend surprised me by buying it for me. I love my friends.
