Doc Watson Will Be Missed

March 3, 1923 – May 29, 2012

There is an interesting article about him here (including the surprising material that the head of his first banjo was made from). He will be missed.

just discovering and falling hard for Mr. Doc Watson. RIP, old dear. I’m gonna go read the article you’ve linked us to.

I know I'm hanging out with the right people, because I can say "Doc Watson passed today," and no one says "who?" He'll be missed. We've recently lost Earl Scruggs too. The old mountain boys are going on-- I hope their music stays a long, long time!

When I was a kid my dad would play Red Rocking Chair over and over and I would run around in circles in the kitchen the whole time.
