Tomorrow Is Another Day

Looks like I'll be showing you all my estate sale granny crafts tomorrow. There will be no pleasant photo taking as today is sanding of the drywall day at our house. I'm locked in a room with a kitten who is scared of the enormously loud noises booming through the house.

He's freaked and biting. I've got a headache. The Mister is out in the yard hacking at something with an axe over and over and over in a way that I am trying to convince myself does not remind me of "The Shining".

The walls and floors are vibrating. Drywall dust is flying. I think that the whole lot of us are about to go insane! I want my house back! You know those makeover shows on TV where a huge crew of people show up and send the family living in the house on a glamorous vacation so that they can later return and ooh! and ahh! over the perfectly clean and organized after of it all? Yeah, right.

Just because the timing seems right, I'm including a little short film that the Mister and I made from still shots one Halloween night with our mannequin boy, Jack in tribute to "The Shining".

Just picture "Renovation" written backwards instead of "Redrum" and you'll have an accurate picture of today at the ranch. I'm pretty sure that the cleanup of drywall dust after the worker leaves will be a lot like that scene from the film where Jack chases young Danny through the shrubbery maze in the snow with very, very ill intent. May the good Lord (and the shop vac)  have mercy on our souls.

Until next time,
x's and o's,
Eartha

The video. IS. SO. FUNNY. Keeping a good thought for you and your mister and the freaked-out-kitty and the drywall itself. You can do it! :)

Holy moly, that mannequin is TERRIFYING. Is he smiling? Screaming? I think it's both, which is somehow even worse! I hope your renovation nightmare ends soon, without any of you going completely mad (although it looks like it might be too late in the kitten's case...).

That has to be the creepiest thing I have watched in a long while. (Nice job.) Have fun surviving the reno. Remember, vintage cocktails were popular for a reason.

Haha! I work for a general contractor and people really have no idea what they are getting into when they start a renovation. It can be very stressful, try to take it in stride and be patient!

Um. Where do you keep that mannequin when not trotted out for these "projects?" In a closet? Do you bind his hands and feet before storage? Hang a rosary around his neck? Holy horror shows, I would!

Drywall is the worst. The mess is overwhelming and the noise nerve shattering. I wish you peaceful days in the future for you, the Mister, and the kitties.

Hi Jack!!!! Miss you! That Shining video is like the BEST video ever, but Psycho is just as awesome!!!

I'm hoping all goes well with the sanding and that you will have a perfect house again soon.

Feel free to come down to AZ and float around in the pool if you need a get away from all of the craziness!

Ugh, I hate renovations! Good luck and hopefully everything will be done quickly and smoothly. Poor kitty...I hope he gets over it.

The video is awesome without sound (work precludes me from watching funny videos with the volume up). I can't wait to get home and watch it with sound!!!

Was that mannequin genuinely designed and made like that? What on earth was he advertising? I've gotta say he is just terrifying and the film totally freaked me out. Do you stand him in your window at Halloween?

That video frightened my dog and now she's cowering under the sofa. I'd say that makes it a win!

I missed like five of your posts! My dashboard must be doing bad things. I love Jack. I love your movies. However, I do worry that your new cat appears to have retractable front arms in order to jump high.

Haha, oh my goodness! I don't know whether to laugh nervously or cry in a little ball scared witless. I think I'll do both!

I love your creativity and humor!
