Happy V-Day!

I was going to do a post for today about how whackadoodle Valentine's Day can be sometimes. No, not the sentiment behind it - I like that. I just dislike the commercialism and how we ladies are led to believe that we simply must receive something from one of the major jewelry pushers or a bottle of perfume with some silly celebrity-hyped name in order to feel truly appreciated. I had a big ole post brewing in my head.

Then, this happened:

Moxie!

We found her yesterday, huddled and scared out of her wits. After much good wool coat ruining and Vienna sausage coaxing, I had her in my car and now she's on my sunporch. We're calling her Moxie. She's ADORABLE...let me tell you! -  but those cats that rule my roost? They're going bonkers. I think I slept a total of thirty seconds last night - and those were while I was still in my street clothes and makeup.

So, this morning while the Mister was prepared for this festive day - vintage Pyrex full of chocolate and a nice card - I was not. All that I could do was promise him that I DID have a card for him and that it just wasn't written in yet. And that I was planning to cook a surprise dinner for him tonight...but now it wouldn't be happening. Um...surprise!

We know that around here, that's just the way that the cookie crumbles sometimes. Mister Kitsch truly showed his love for me (and a newly found Moxie) last night by going out in the frigid cold to hang signs that he made. And by going to get flea medicine and food and supplies. And this morning while babysitting Moxie while I stood in the shower, already exhausted from the search for Moxie's owner that had already begun late last night.

Whether you're a Valentine's Day skeptic like me - or a full-fledged reveler, take the time today to remember why you love who you love - and why they love you. And if you're completely not in the mood for love right now, just go on ahead and love yourself. I'm sure that you deserve it.

Until next time,
x's and o's,
Eartha

What a sweet little drop-in Valentine. I hope you find Moxie's owner soon. Happy V Day!

That is so sweet of you to help find that cute fluffball's owner! I thought of you a couple of weeks ago as I attempted to chase down a lost doggie in our neighborhood, but sadly he wasn't having any of it and kept running. The only good thing I could think of after was at least he had a collar so I knew he was someone's (and even if animal control picked him up they could contact the owner).

Pet escapades aside-- hope you have a nice day and isn't not too crazy with the cats and dog. ;) Good luck in finding Moxie's owner!

This morning I was presented with a ceramic travel mug for my morning tea--which is just about the most romantic thing I could've gotten because it means he's been listening to my talk (for weeks) about how I need to stop and get one because I don't like the tinny/plastic taste to my tea from my current mugs. I take that over jewelry or chocolate any day!

Hope you and your mister and all your critters have a sweet day.

Sure hope that you are able to find Moxie's owner soon - what a nice Valentine's day present that would be for her owners.

Sorry your Valentine's Day did not go as planned, but you are right...it is special because of who you are with NOT because of some silly gift.

Oh my gosh Moxie is adorable! Hopefully her owner will see the posters.

While I'm a dog person, I've done the whole dog-and-cat thing and it just doesn't work out well. For me anyway. Mostly because my (huge) dog thinks cats are her own personal floppy toys.

Happy Valentine's Day!

A SUPER (if emotionally and physically taxing, it sounds like!) Valentine's day surprise, if I do say so myself! I hope her family finds her soon, but she couldn't be in better hands in the meantime. Good luck! And happy V-day!

Vintage Pyrex full of chocolate? Now there's a Mister with some killer taste in gifts! And Moxie is adorable...I admire your dedication to helping animals in need. You've got a big heart and it shows. Happy Valentine's Day!

You are going to have many wonderful days ahead to reward you for this kindness - God bless you -what an adorable dog!! She has a guardian angel looking after her to have put you in her path. I have 3 cats who would be very unhappy to have her in the house too. If you cannot locate her owner, your photo is guaranteed to find her a good home soon. Mary

You and the mister are awesome, Eartha! What a cute dog...I hope you find her owner soon. And I hope the cats don't torture her too much--and vice versa. Our dog Lucy is always fascinated by cats. She's good with them though, and lets them bully her, which is as it should be.

Ahhh, the commercialism of Valentine's Day. I admit, I get caught up in it. You showed the true meaning of love by taking in this little pooch!
