Uggh...do we have to?? Tornado season is seriously the worst. Just this morning, my pest control lady said to us "Didn't y'all used to have a huge basement at your old house with a concrete storm bunker?" while standing in our now one-level ranch house.
There is something completely different about this storm. Things are being taken way more seriously than usual. I'm not sure if it's because of the devastation and deaths that have been left in the wake of storms in the past several days or if a lot of people are remembering the big tornado that hit Nashville in 1998. It's both, I'm guessing.
Lots of schools and businesses are closed which I've never seen happen. There is a certain pitch to the air. We woke up to a hail storm this morning and now the birds and squirrels are going nuts. Even the Mister who is from Kansas (where they're used to things comin' whippin' down the plains) is taking things seriously and coming home from work early.
In related and ridiculous news, I decided to take a peek into our emergency supply cabinet:
And it appears that we have a lone can of Veg-All (which it would truly take an emergency to make me eat), one can of Fancy Feast, an orange soda from our wedding and quite a bit of moonshine. Looks like we're ready for anything.
To my friends in the path, please be safe.
Until next time,
x's and o's,
